Serhiy Novosel received the title of “Entrepreneur of the Year 2021” according to the Ukrainian Business Award in the field of e-commerce innovations! The dynamics of his growth as a seller on Amazon confirm the high level of Ukrainian business in the international arena.

In the world of e-commerce, where success is defined by flexibility, automation, and systems thinking, Serhiy Novosel stands out not only for his results, but also for the fundamental academic and technological training behind them. A graduate with honors from both the bachelor’s (2010) and master’s (2011) programs in economic cybernetics at the Kryvyi Rih Economic Institute of Kyiv National Economic University, Novosel possesses a unique set of skills for the digital economy. His specialization covers disciplines such as economic modeling, corporate information systems, informatization project management, and financial systems analysis. His master’s thesis — the development of a software system for analyzing deposit programs in commercial banks — demonstrates his commitment to accuracy, structure, and real-world implementation of algorithmic solutions.

By 2021, Serhiy had already managed to transfer academic principles into the sphere of applied innovation. He created a fully functional Amazon store, managing it from Ukraine and achieving significant annual sales.

But Serhiy’s contribution is much broader than just one marketplace, and this award is not about his sales in general, although achieving profitability and managing so many procedures in such a high-load environment is a truly outstanding achievement. His system solutions, based on low-code/no-code platforms, adapt to any eCommerce environment — from Shopify and WooCommerce to Walmart or your own B2B systems. The architectures he has built automate order processing and allow you to scale your business. These are universal tools for any entrepreneur in digital commerce.

His approaches are based on reproducible models, scenario analysis logic, and dynamic process adaptation, which allows businesses to quickly adapt to market changes. It is this kind of multi-layered engineering that allows eCommerce companies to remain effective not only on Amazon, but throughout the digital space.

Submitting applications

Participants filled out the competition questionnaires until early December 2021. The main requirements for applications included:

• Analysis of financial indicators for three years.
• Details of implemented innovations.
• Information on the social, environmental and economic impact of the activity.

Preselection

As of mid-December, 368 applicants had been screened according to the following criteria:

• Stability and dynamics of business development.
• Successful implementation of innovations.
• Significant contribution to the development of e-commerce in Ukraine.

Case evaluation

The 19 best candidates made it to the semi-finals.

The semi-finals involved submitting business cases in which participants described:

• Innovative solutions to solve complex problems in e-commerce.
• Achievements in the field of sustainable development.
• Impact of social initiatives.

Final

At the end of December 2021, the finalists presented their achievements to the jury. During the selection of Serhiy Novosel for the Ukrainian Business Award, his candidacy was evaluated by a jury consisting of leading experts in the field of entrepreneurship, strategic development and digital transformation.

During the speeches, special attention was paid to:

• Social and environmental impact.
